Arthur & Paul Males Spa-Boutique Hotel
Arthur & Paul, the first boutique hotel in the Cambodian capital exclusively for men, offers an elegant, wonderfully intimate retreat for gay travelers. A hymn to love, this hotel was named in memory of the tumultuous loves of French poets, Arthur Rimbaud and Paul Verlaine.
Arthur & Paul is a superbly renovated 1930’s building inspired by Van Molyvann, former disciple of Le Corbusier and considered one of the greatest of modern Cambodian architects. With stylish and sophisticated touches, Thibault, your charming host, has given it a cozy and chic atmosphere through an original and sensitive design.
The peaceful contemporary decor of the 10-themed large bedrooms welcomes you to calm and serene nights. Each room combining comfort, harmonious colors and soft lighting, bears the names of mythical gay couples: Jules & Jim, Yves & Pierre, Elton & David…
Decorated with Cocteau drawings, a beautiful harmony emerges from the bright colors and modern touches of the restaurant & bar, allowing you to enjoy moments of relaxation and pleasure. The morning is a feast. Breakfast is sumptuous and includes home-made bread and fresh viennoiseries, served by attentive and staff dressed in Jean-Paul Gaultier sailor-striped sweaters.
Adjacent to the restaurant & bar, is a pool free of chemical-purified water. Enjoy the massage services of experienced male masseurs that will knead your muscles into delicious oblivion. A $5 admission fee allows non-residents of the hotel full access to the hotel.
With friendly hyper-styled barmen, carefully selected music and socializing guests, the temperature rises quickly at night!
#27, Street 71, Boeung Keng Kang 1, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
Previously the home of a senator from Phnom Penh, this stylish hotel, dating back to the 19th century retains an old-world colonial charm. Located in the heart of Boeung Keng Kang I, an exclusive residential area in capital, the Governor’s House is only a short drive from the Independence Monument, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and the National Museum.
Tastefully furnished with colonial artefacts this upscale boutique property was created by Alain Garnier, an award winning and internationally recognized interior designer. The results are amazing - 12 elegantly and individually designed rooms offering a perfect balance between colonial-style elements and modern amenities. If you plan on booking ahead of time, it’s worth spending time browsing their website to see exactly what you’re getting in terms of facilities.
"My hotel concept is based on a lifestyle from the late 1800s,” says Mr. Garnier. He remodeled the 3-storey building and covered the common areas with local art, dark wooden furnishings and rich splashes of color.
There is a courtyard with palm trees, a swimming pool and a restaurant serving both Cambodian and western dishes, refreshing cocktails, local beverages, and fine wines.
Stay in this romantic and atmospheric place and you will understand why the Governor's House ranges amongst the top boutique hotels in the city.

The Quay Boutique Hotel
If you want to be in the heart of Phnom Penh’s vibrant riverfront and want a hotel that is a blend of stylish comfort and hospitality with soul, look no further. The Quay Boutique Hotel is just what you need. It’s a pleasant stroll away from most landmarks such as the National Museum, the Royal Palace, the Silver Pagoda and quaint side streets dotted with charming cafes, designer shops and art galleries.
The first carbon-friendly hotel in town, the Quay shows that modernity, comfort and respect for the environment, can go hand in hand. A stylish 16-room haunt with hip design features and an overall minimalist approach, it is ideal for people who love sophisticated design, with modern chic.
For the best experience, I suggest you to book one of the eight coolly stylish suites which offer panoramic river views from the balconies.
Even better, go to the rooftop bar and restaurant to sample an exquisite selection of Asian and western dishes. All guests have access to the rooftop Jacuzzi, ideal for relaxing after a long day sightseeing. At sunset, take in views of the Mekong and the Tonle Sap, with a cocktail or two.
Sisowath Quay, Phnom Penh, Cambodia
This quiet and peaceful retreat is ideally located in the center of the capital, a few steps away from all major highlights. Travelers who love space, comfort and hospitality will appreciate a stay at Villa Salt. With a lot of natural light, the 14 rooms, suites and apartments are among the nicest and most spacious in all Phnom Penh. The furniture is custom-made locally in keeping with the architectural style of the hotel. Several rooms have balconies with views of the city or the pool. Some apartments are ideal for families: with 2 large bedrooms, a kitchenette and dining area and a private balcony overlooking some green. All are equipped with flat-screen TV’s, fridges, fans and air-conditioning, coffee/tea maker and complimentary WIFI. There is an outdoor swimming pool, tropical garden and open-air restaurant. The staff are cheerful, efficient and helpful. I didn’t have any particular demands but they were always quick to sort out anything I required.
